Hello Everyone:
Does anyone have a standard Protocol they use to assess/Evaluate sexually abusive Youth under 1o? I may be doing one on a 7 year old and just wanted to see what others consider the best tool/protocol for this age group.

Best? Not sure that one exists.
I would probably start with a really good interview of the child and his parents.
For assessment of a child this young, I would also use the BASC system rating scales for parents, teachers, as well as the BASC's developmental history form.
You could try projectives, such as Draw A Person, TAT, or Rorschach, but I wouldn't go to court with any of those. I'd use those primarily for guidance in treatment.
I'm sure other's will have ideas, to add.

Some of us are using the Child Behavior Check List, however there are few things, so it seems, that are specifically for children under 10. Toni C. Johnson has some things that we have all used for many years. I would love to hear anyone else's ideas also. The SRY/SAY youth area seems to really rely on history, development, neurological testing, and parenting evaluations.

In my program, we use Toni Cavenaugh's assessment materials and find it very useful. Most of the assessment interviews is with the parents. The materials are in her book and I assume you can check it out on her website.

I forgot to mention, I'd like to check out IQ, neuropsychological functioning (NEPSY? D-KEFS?), and Adaptive Behavior on a kid like this.
I would be suprised if the sexual acting out wasn't just a small piece of a larger disorder for a 7 year old.

Greetings, I know this may be too late, but in Idaho the ERASOR and the JSOAP are the assessment tools that are normally used.
