This quote is from a post on a different thread. I thought it was different enough that it deserved its own thread: And a few of them, but not many, did appear to have discovered sexual abuse images through adult porn use. Our Internet Porn offender numbers are really small. It was interesting to learn that at least one offender has told us he had no sexual interest in children until he started receiving child porn in the mix of adult porn that he was getting. He said he initially ignored the child porn, but then started looking at it, and after a while, the child porn became his preference. It could have been his way of minimizing his responsibility, or he may truly have grown his addiction like some folks become addicted to drugs. Anyone here heard a similar story? What do your offenders tell you? Did they start off seeking kid porn? -PMH

I hear various stories; generally the ones who have offended and/or have sexual interest, started looking for it. others say adult porn was the beginning. eventually in treatment, most admit that they searched for it deliberately whether they were looking at adult porn first or not. I do think that internet porn can become compulsive regardless of how they may have started and most of my clients report similar progression over time.
